I have been a volunteer of Icing Smiles since 2017. On December 2018, I received an email about a child that is close to my location that was suffering from a critical illness, to verify if I could make some cookies for this brave child. Immediately I said yes. It’s sad that a child could suffer from such critical health problems.
But let me tell you a little more about Icing Smiles. They are a nonprofit organization that provides custom celebration cakes and other treats to families impacted by the critical illness of a child. Their objective is to create a custom baked good for the child or their sibling that provides a provisional escape from worry and creates a positive memory during a difficult time.
I decided to make some Unicorn Cookies since the family didn’t have a specific theme.
A couple of days after sending the cookies, I received an email from Icing Smiles with an amazing message from the family. And let me tell you the feeling of making another family happy in times of sadness is priceless. That’s why I encourage you that if you are a baker to volunteer and if you know someone that has a child with a critical illness let them know about this incredible organization.
